At some point in 2008, I decided to take a cute photo of my son on his 1st birthday with a “1” made of raked leaves. At the time, this seemed like an innocent enough idea and we lived in Syracuse where our sloped back yard was full of leaves in November. This became a tradition and we continued each year taking a photo of Fletcher and a number made of leaves for each year. Our most recent image was for his 12th birthday in 2020.

We had another baby and had to follow suit but we couldn’t use leave again so we chose pumpkins since he was an October baby. I am happy to report that at least every state we’ve lived in has had access to expensive tiny pumpkins for Everett. Our most recent pumpkin birthday photo was in October 2020 for his 10th birthday.
